Costa Rica is called the Switzerland of Central America. Why? Is it because of the beautiful bank notes? the drinking water that flows from the tap everywhere or even the impressive cleanliness in the streets? I do not know. Besides its world famous coffee, pineapple and yes chocolate it offers huge tropical forests with impressive nature. The country is home to over 9000 species of flowering plants, over 600 species of butterflies, more than 200 different mammals as well as reptiles and colorful amphibians.
On our 4-week trip we visited 4 different ecosystems - lowland rainforest, subtropical forest, cloud forest and coastal estuary.
Each of these regions harbored a different type of flora and fauna that never ceased to amaze us.
