Elefants
Botswana has the greatest Elephant population in Africa with numbers exceeding 50 000. Besides our encounters with some herds of them in Botswana we also met the lonely desert elephants in Namibia, which are different from their big relatives in the Okovango or Mashatu Area. What most impresses us, is their strong family bonds and their absolutely silent movements, sometimes you don’t even hear them as a herd approaches towards your direction. Maybe a cracking branch, a short snort – no trumpeting or loud stumping.
